Playing Experience & Background

  • Dave is a native of Detroit, Michigan and has been a player and coach at all levels.
  • He began playing hockey at the age of 5 and played AAA / Tier 1 Jr. A hockey in various programs such as Little Caesars, Compuware, and the Jr. Redwings.

Playing Highlights

  • Dave was a key part of teams that competed and won in various prestigious tournaments across the United States along with International play such as State and National Championships, Silver Stick Championships, and the Peewee International Brick tournament in Quebec City.
  • He was the starting goalie on the historic 1981/1982 Compuware team that won over 80 games, and several championships across Canada and the United States.
  • Dave was selected twice as the 1st Team All State Goalie and was drafted as the number 2 pick in the Tier 1 Jr. A draft. Playing Tier 1 hockey in both the United States and Canada.

Coaching Experience

  • Dave’s coaching experience started in Detroit and spans across other states such as Tennessee and Illinois.
  • Dave is a certified Level 4 coach and has been a head coach at all skill levels of hockey including Tier1, Tier 2, Jr. A, AAA, AA, A, and Rec. Dave has been the head coach for teams that competed on State, National, and International stages.
  • He was the Lead Hockey Player Development Director with the Livonia Hockey Association and has been a lead instructor with various clinics in Michigan, Illinois, and Tennessee focusing individual skills, off ice training, power skating, and goaltending.
  • Dave is currently an evaluator for the USA Hockey Development Program. 
Dave and his family are most proud of leading a fundraising program for Children’s Le Bonheur hospital of Memphis / Children’s hospital of Illinois in conjunction with Memphis and Illinois hockey teams. Together they have raised thousands of dollars for kids at those hospitals.  

Dave and his family are proud to have opened their home to junior players as billet parents so those players can continue to play hockey at a high level. He has also driven players from Memphis to tryouts to help them continue to play hockey at a higher level.
 
Dave’s passion for the game is more than just teaching the game, but also leading and developing athletes to become better people. Dave encourages these athletes to work hard not just on the ice, but off the ice as well in everything they do.
